We’re ALWAYS looking for great, quality products, without the chemicals, that actually work. You know how your social media kind of stalks you? Like, you mention something that you want, or are interested in, and ABRACADABRA, there it is, on your feed. Well, I came across Hairstory, specifically their New Wash, and I ain’t mad.

A few things that we learned from Hairstory:

• Shampoo is not great for your hair

• There are so many different types of shampoo, simply because more stuff= more revenue

• Even the best hairdressers would only need 6 products tops

People are now learning that shampoo is one of the worst products that you can use on your hair. The detergent in it over cleans, and strips away natural oils that are good for your hair, and actually protect it. Because of this, your body reacts by OVER producing oil. Then, you’re greasier than ever all because your scalp was trying to protect itself.

New wash cleans without detergent, and does not strip away your protective barrier. It only benefits your hair, by removing EXCESS oil, dirt, and styling products. Basically, it leaves what your hair needs to have in it, and takes away the yucky stuff. The best part may just be that it simplifies your routine (one product instead of… too many). This is like a Godsend to moms.

New Wash cleans hair with a blend of essential oils, and naturally-derived saturated cleansers. It is detergent free, sulfate free, and paraben free. Most importantly they are cruelty free! Another cool Hairstory fact? They strive to reduce waste by offering a New Wash Club. If you do this, you receive a reusable aluminum bottle, and refill pouches.

I have to admit, I was skeptical at first. I want to always try and love natural products, but they just don’t always work. I expected my hair to look and feel greasy, but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. My shower was quicker, less tedious, and my hair felt soft, and styled great. You have to give your hair some transitional time. If it doesn’t seem to be working at first- STICK WITH IT! Read and follow the directions, try using more product (because there’s nothing harmful in here it doesn’t matter how much you use or how often you wash!), and wash out product well.
